New Beginnings

Hey hi hello!

If you’re just learning about me for the first time then I’m happy you’re here! My name is M.L. Scotland, but most folks just call me Scotty. All the other fun stuff is in my bio, but you probably don’t care about that. So, what’s the new beginning? Well, after I finished my first deployment–yes I am in the US Air Force–I decided that I really want to take my writing seriously.

I published my first book three years ago, but it feels like I just published it yesterday with how much attention it has been getting lately. And it wasn’t just out of nowhere, of course. I took a gamble and really started talking about it, which is something I wasn’t doing before. I just hit publish and went about my day: No promo, nothing. Who did I think I was? Beyoncé?

Which brings me to now. I’m doing a lot of promo, I have a book club event–hopefully–coming up, I’m writing the sequel to the first book, it’s a lot! I’d love to make writing a career. The only thing, however, is that I’m self-published and I am extremely scared to send my book to publishers. I don’t even know where to really begin! I think I would absolutely lose my mind if I’m told no all the time. My self-esteem can’t handle all that rejection. But also, what if they say yes? Ah! I don’t know what to do.

I’ll cross those bridges later. For now, I’m focusing on writing the stories and whatever happens next is what happens. I hope you all enjoy the stories in the meantime!
